Rabbit Island (Koh Tonsay) Guide
Escape to Paradise: Unwind on Rabbit Island Guide
Rabbit Island, or Koh Tonsay, is a small, tranquil island located just off the coast of Kep, Cambodia. This idyllic island offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, with its pristine beaches, clear turquoise waters, and lush tropical vegetation. It's a haven for relaxation, swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying the simple pleasures of island life. Koh Tonsay has a relatively untouched history, remaining largely undeveloped and retaining its natural charm. The island's name, "Rabbit Island," is said to derive from its shape, which resembles a rabbit when viewed from certain angles. For many years, it was a hidden gem known only to locals, but it has gradually gained popularity among tourists seeking a peaceful and authentic Cambodian island experience. Activities on Koh Tonsay are centered around enjoying the natural beauty of the island. You can relax on the beach, swim in the clear waters, snorkel to explore the coral reefs, or hike through the island's interior to discover hidden coves and viewpoints. Several basic bungalows and guesthouses offer accommodation, and there are a few restaurants serving fresh seafood and Khmer cuisine. The island's culinary tradition revolves around fresh seafood, often grilled or prepared with local spices and herbs. Try the grilled squid or fish amok for a taste of authentic Cambodian flavors.
